PCs and NPCs of the World

Every player character will have a bio here, forming a Hall of Heroes for the campaign and to help you get to know your fellow adventurers. Important NPCs of the world will be listed here as well. Names in green are active/alive. Names in red are inactive (or deceased). Names in gray indicate unknown status.

Player Characters:

Aalnor (Phil)

A half-elven druid of Ildarach with a passion for scimitars and strong feelings about the truth of balance. He is currently investigating the mysterious incidents around the tower of Herikyr. He travels with a black bear animal companion named Orson.

Nathaniel Vancedral (Ralph)

A half-elven sorcerer with mysterious scale-like markings along his arms. He is formerly of Turas Faen and now on his own personal journey. He's also a collector of unusual ingredients with ever-growing interest in both cooking and alchemy.

Aji-Tona Rhuusq (Mike)

A half-orc monk trained in martial arts at Turas Faen since he was a child, now on a quest to see “good justice be done”. He is hardy and focused, but slow to speak and carries a restless spirit after being told by Destinaire that he is “two in one realm”.

Skag (Craig)

A human barbarian of immense musculature and few words. He was abruptly cast into this realm from another place and has had mysterious visions of a cord tying him back to something (or somewhere). Carries a drinking horn imbued with magical powers and a greatsword he wields with great fury.

Haemond (Jerry)

A human cleric devoted to the gods of battle and war. A battle priest who wields a greatsword, a crossbow, and a dagger just as effectively as healing magic and divine spells. He joined the group after the party rescued him from a goblin holding cell.

NPCs:

Aelana

An elven druid, she is one of three senior druids (along with Bernard and Calthorn) of Ildarach, and a close advisor to Thavius. An exceptional hunter, she is responsible for the state of the wildlife of the woods. Through discussions of philosophy, she's developed a friendly rapport with Aji-Tona.

Dagen Barclav

A tribal leader of nomadic humans during the time of humans who settled Magevale more than 1500 years ago. A formidable warrior, wise leader, and a brilliant strategist. He carried Waldrykor, a magical ax forged by some of the first dwarven smiths of Ambervien. He and his wife Garma had 14 children.

Olaf Beorgenstone

A woefully under-educated but brilliantly gifted human blacksmith, he also provides weaponsmithing and armorer services at his unfortunately named shop, Total Forgery.

Bernard

A human druid, he is one of three senior druids (along with Calthorn and Aelana) of Ildarach, and a close advisor to Thavius. He handles much of the ceremonial and diplomatic relations for the grove.

Jin Bryton (hireling)

Jin is a human historian-turned-local-investigator seeking answers to the various reports of mysterious events and strange sightings around the tower of Herikyr. The party rescued him from a group of goblins by the well outside Gilius Redbeard's cottage. After joining the group and continuing on the adventure, he nearly died a second time during a gruesome battle with the undead in the prison of a dwarven outpost.

Caladom

An ancient dark mage defeated by Serje Danzir who later found a way back to this plane of existence from the underworld in the form of a lich. He was defeated by a group of brave heroes with help from the Unpronounceable Tome of Yghryszjk.

Calthorn

An elven druid, he is one of three senior druids (along with Aelana and Bernard) of Ildarach. He's not as close an advisor to Thavius as Bernard. His focus is more on the security of the grove and the surrounding woods along with the training of younger acolytes. He is indebted to Skag for helping rescue some young students.

Aria Cobb

A middle-aged human who runs Cobb's Bits & Bobs in Magevale. She is a tough, stern woman who doesn't suffer fools. An experienced negotiator and capable appraiser who believes in fair trades, she's been partly won over by the party's brave deeds—particularly with regard to helping Turas Faen and keeping the trade routes intact.

Destinaire

An extraplanar Fatewalker trapped here for a time—along with his Chaosborn enemy—in Redbeard's Outpost. Both were unknowingly released by the party. Haemond, Skag, and Aji-Tona helped Destinaire defeat his Chaosborn opponent, recovering their fellow party members and securing The Timeless Tome so that Destinaire could return it to his people.

Shackleton Drake

A renowned explorer and adventurer, his detailed maps and field guides are used for travel and survival throughout the lands of Kria. Few have met him, fewer still can say they truly know him, but his contributions to the realm have undoubtedly helped a few people find their way from one place to another.

Captain Erastius Felgarn

A retired human soldier and caravan guard. The grizzled elder and pragmatic leader of the town of Magevale for the better part of 20 years. He has "retired" from soldiering and adventuring, but serves as marshal for the town and its outskirts.

Brother Garan

A senior brother at the monastery of Turas Faen. He is arguably the most ‘public’ face of Turas Faen, as he is often the one who meets with visitors and he also travels on most of the supply runs to Magevale.

Herikyr

A powerful mage who wandered and adventured through and around the valley and the surrounding mountains, Herikyr is the namesake mage of Magevale. No one has seen her since she rescued Sedrix nearly 1100 years ago. Rumors of her whereabouts are varied. Her tower still stands amidst the southeastern woods. Some claim the tower is now haunted, overgrown with enchanted flora and guarded by powerful magic.

Lorinathius

A former apprentice of Herikyr. Little is known of him.

Malagant the Shadeweaver

A necromancer who learned of Herikyr's research on magical planar gateways and used it to start building an army of undead from multiple realms. The heroes thwarted his plans in this realm with help from Sedrix, but Malagant is still at large somewhere across the planes.

Danilo & Mara Osgood

Danilo Osgood runs the Halfway There Inn with his wife, Mara, whose family-recipe “wayfarer” bread is magically delicious.

“For years,” Danilo explains, “Everyone who came through that door from Oceangarde would come up to the bar and say the same thing: ‘How far is it to Atandoth?’ So I’d say, “You’re halfway there.” Meanwhile, everyone who came down from Atandoth would say, ‘How much further is it to Oceangarde?’ And you know what I’d say? ‘You’re halfway there.’ Two seasons of that and I knew exactly what to call this place.”

Palinoth

A half-elven druid of Ildarach who visits Magevale twice each year: once in Spring and once in Autumn.

Wil (and Sonia) Raneros

Wil Raneros is the young boy who found Skag hiding amidst the haystacks near the barn of his family's farm in Magevale. He secretly brought the barbarian food for a few days, then convinced the big man to accompany him to the Halfway There Inn. Soon after the two made their way to the inn, Wil's mother promptly removed the youngster and brought him home.

Gilius Redbeard

Dwarven warrior hero and an adventuring companion of Herikyr. Like her, no one has seen Gilius in a millenium. Most presume he has passed away, but long dwarven lifespans and Herikyr's magics may have prolonged his time here. When not out on expeditions, he pursued his passion for gardening and working surface soil rather than delving into mountain depths like many of his brethren. He reportedly helped maintain the gardens and grounds around Herikyr's tower and had a stone cottage in the area. The cottage still stands, and led to Redbeard's Outpost.

Sedrix

Herikyr's oathbound apprentice since 464 and successor to her previous apprentice, Lorinathius. Sedrix was kidnapped by Shadowgasts during a during a planar experiment in 478. Herikyr rescued him sometime later. She cast him back home to this realm, but the gate closed behind him and they were separated. He's been trying to find her ever since.

Master Siparis

Now a master at Turas Faen, he discovered Aji-Tona Rhuusq on the night of Coldark in 1588. Burly and capable, he embodies great focus and great compassion in equal measure. He was entranced by the Chaosborn when it descended on the monastery, but was saved by the PCs.

Serje Danzir

A brave hero of great renown and legendary status who went on countless adventures. Tales of him and his (seemingly ever-expanding) band of heroes are told around the realm. He presumable died centuries ago.

Thavius

Grand Druid of Ildarach. Besides the other druids of the grove, few know his name. The party knows of him because of Aalnor.

Theomandor

A powerful and famous archmage and scholar. He travels the world and regularly publishes works about flora and fauna, history, and unusual phenomena.

Urist Battlebeard

Expedition leader and one of the original Dwarven founders of Ambervein, he went on to become the settlement's first ruler.

Usdan Battlebeard

The current Dwarven leader of Ambervein and great-great-great-great-grandson of Urist Battlebeard.
